Church Dedications

Willimantic Daily Chronicle

Willimantic, Connecticut (First Church).

First Church of Christ, Scientist, Willimantic, was dedicated at the morning and afternoon services on Sunday, October 29, 1944. A history of the church was read, which follows in part:

"In the year 1916, through the earnest efforts of a Christian Science practitioner who had come to reside in Willimantic, a small group of people began to meet in one another's homes to read the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly. Later in the same year, this group became a Christian Science Society, and services were held in the Y.M.C.A. Building.
