Letters to the Press from Christian Science Committees on Publication

Mary Burrow Johnson Ledger-Dispatch, Norfolk, Virginia

In a book review appearing in a recent issue of the Ledger-Dispatch, a reference is made to Christian Science which, while entirely friendly in its intent, might mislead one who is not well informed about this religion.

The writer of the article is correct when he states that the opinion is becoming widespread that matter is controlled by mind, but the fact should be made clear that, the practice of Christian Science, it is never the human mind to which one turns for the alleviation of sin or disease. The Christian Scientist turns unreservedly to God, the only Mind, the omnipotent creative, governing power; for He it is, according to the Psalmist, "who forgiveth all thine iniquities: who healeth all thy diseases."
