Spiritual Entrenchment

The love of our Father-Mother God is infinitely greater than that of any human parent. God, Christian Science reveals, is the source of all true love. That love which would selfishly gather those it calls its own within a circumscribed space and attempt to confine them there gives place to higher and wider views of man as the image and likeness of God the expression of perfection and harmony. One who sees man as God's reflection is filled with confidence, peace, and joy for he trusts his loved ones, and those of others, to the watchful care of infinite, all-inclusive Mind.

In Matthew (10:57) we find these warning words of Christ Jesus: "He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me." A student of Christian Science, whose children had attended the Christian Science Sunday School from early childhood, found it helpful and comforting, as the children advanced in understanding, to assure them that they would find help in any discomfort or disturbance by turning their thought at once to God. They were taught that as they accepted God's loving care and guidance they would find freedom and harmony. Their endeavor to follow these instructions brought about not only physical healings and definite proofs of God's ever-presence but also confidence in the continuous operation of the law of divine Mind as applicable to all needs.

This whole family strove to center its love upon the heavenly Parent, God. Today this mother has not found it so difficult as she once would have to let her boys take their place in the armed forces. She has found comfort in Mary Baker Eddy's words (Message to The Mother Church for 1901. p. 1). "And rest assured you can never lack God's outstretched arm so long as you are in His service.
