The Welcoming
Do hearts fall low?' There is a lifting up!
For conscious strength to bulwark those who pray
Comes as that friend who promised he would sup
With him whose doors are open wide today.
He with his coming brings a feast of good,
Of bread and wine to break earth's dismal fast.
To give the famished soul its rightful food
Fitted to every need. Love's shared repast.
Then open wide your door, for who breaks bread
With you brings for you both that feast's supply.
Prepare to welcome him who rightly said,
Who eats this bread of Life shall never die.
Put on your garment white; your candle light!
It is the Christ that sups with you tonight.
