When Christian Science was first brought to my notice in 1897, I did not accept it. I had been brought up in the Hebrew faith, and was satisfied with the teaching that we were the chosen children of Israel. Yet, as early as I can remember, when reading in secret in the New Testament the life of Christ Jesus, I loved him and shed many tears, even while following the customs of the Jewish religion.

In 1912, because of sickness and trials, I accepted Christian Science when it was again brought to my attention by an old friend of the family whom it had healed of varicose veins, stomach trouble, rheumatism, and other ills. I was healed of many difficulties, including rheumatism, just by reading "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, and was able to help members of my family and others in proving the truth. How grateful I am that in 1914 I went through class, joined The Mother Church and a local church, and then became active in serving this great Cause!

I can never be grateful enough to God for our beloved Leader's definition of "Christ" on page 583 of Science and Health, and also for that of "Church" on the same page. What an unfoldment they have brought, leading me out of darkness into the light of Life, Truth, and Love! Like the woman in Scripture who suffered eighteen years with an issue of blood, I have been healed of the same trouble with the help of a practitioner. I was also healed of grief when a dear one passed on.
