Baldwin, New York (First Church).

First Church of Christ, Scientist, Baldwin, held dedicatory services on Sunday, April 1, 1945, in the morning, afternoon, and evening.

This church was organized in 1925. when a small group of students started holding services in the Knights of Pythias Hall. The services continued there for about eight years and then were moved to Lorenz Hall, where they remained until the members were ready to start building a permanent structure of their own. In January, 1937, ground was broken for the church building at Florence Street and Brookside Drive. Upon completion of the Sunday school section of the building, services were held there. Work on the superstructure was begun in October, 1940, and on Sunday, April 13, 1941. the first service was held in the completed edifice.

Through assistance of the Selina C. Cornish Fund, established to aid in the erection of Christian Science churches in communities of not more than twenty thousand inhabitants, a grant from the Trusteeunder the Will of Mary Baker Eddy, and the generosity and kindness of members and interested friends, the dedication was made possible.
