Pittsburg, California (Society)

Celebrating final payment on its church building at 312 East Eighth Street, members of Christian Science Society, Pittsburg held morning and afternoon dedicatory services on Sunday. April 1. 1945."

The first Christian Science service in pittsburg was held late in 1917 in a private home. Services were held in various homes until a permanent meeting place was arranged.

The first meeting in the new building was held on October 4, 1918, and business sessions followed, leading to the formation of a society. Sunday school clashes started in August, 1920.

In the early days of Christian Science here the librarian distributed literature from her own home, while another member kept a supply of Quarterlies in his store. A Reading Room was established in October, 1923, and the society became a branch of The Mother Church in Boston on April 24, 1924.—Post Dispatch.
