Christian Science was presented...
Christian Science was presented to me when I was in severe mental and physical distress. I had been suffering for many months from neuritis in the main facial nerve, and I could neither talk nor eat without experiencing severe pain. Aid was sought without avail from several physicians, dentists, masseurs, and a chiropractor, and in my extremity I was forced to leave work and go into the country for a complete rest.
At an opportune moment my hostess handed me a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and I immediately read the chapter on Prayer. This reading brought the realization that I wished to learn more of this Science. One message stood out with remarkable clearness (p. 14): "Become conscious for a single moment that Life and intelligence are purely spiritual,—neither in nor of matter,—and the body will then utter no complaints. If suffering from a belief in sickness, you will find yourself suddenly well."
My attention was attracted also by the spiritual interpretation of the Lord's Prayer (ibid., pp. 16, 17), which discloses the real significance of what Christ Jesus taught his disciples. The next day I sought the help of a practitioner and obtained mental and physical relief. Study of Christian Science was commenced, and in the course of a few months the discordant condition left me completely.
