Listener
What
shall I listen for? The beat of rain
That quickens tired winter earth, or song
Of bird poured ceaselessly in glad refrain
On faithful hearts strengthened by waiting long
For Truth's reward of comfort, strength, and peace?
No, listener, for in these is not found
The holy power to bring to men release
From pain and grief, from heartaches that abound.
Wait now on God, and in His love rejoice.
So hear the healing reassurance fall
On searching thought, awakened by His voice
To grasp reality, see Love as All.
Love will not fail to show to men the way,
If they will listen, worship, and obey.
