Great Britain and Ireland
Record, London, England
In your recent issue a Dean is reported to have said that to his mind Christian Science "was more of a movement than an actual church, based upon the idea of mind over matter, and that evil was only an illusion."
The Dean has failed to grasp the fact that Christian Science is a return to the primitive Christianity taught by Christ Jesus, in which the healing of sickness and sin was a common and well-recognized occurrence. Christ Jesus established his church on this basis, a basis which has been largely lost sight of by the church during the centuries following. Christ Jesus healed through spiritual means. His control of material phenomena was not due to the influence of the human mind over matter, but was the outcome of the spirituality which he taught and demonstrated.
