[Jesus] announced a new order on earth—God's order, the kingdom of God. He told us to seek that kingdom first, and everything else will be added to us.

We feel that this demand we make—the kingdom as first and final loyalty—is absolute. If anything else—the nation, the race, the selfish interests of a group of victors—is made the first and primary consideration, the world, will be at war with this kingdom, and the universe will put in its moral bill. There will be no escape. ... We see clearly that if the kingdom of God is to be our first and final loyalty, then that must begin somewhere; it must begin in us—in me. We must not only talk about the new order, we must be the new order—it must start with us.
