"Seek ye first the kingdom of...
"Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." How applicable are these words of the Master in every age! More than twenty-six years ago I lived in a house with very loving and considerate people, and now and then I glanced inside one of the books they were continually reading, but thought what I read very strange. On leaving employment there and going to live in a very worldly household, I discovered myself longing to know something more of the wonderful truths I had but glimpsed in the books of my former Christian Science friends. I wanted to know what had made them so unselfish cheerful, and kind to me and others.
God has shown me a great deal of His goodness, and for over twenty years I have had many wonderful healings. The first time I went into a Christian Science church in London, life did not seem worth living—my troubles seemed too much for me. I sat looking at the text over the door, reading it over and over again, and thinking. How can that wonderful statement possibly be true: "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need" (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, p. 494). It was the wonderful message in those words that saved me. From that time I have loved the Lesson-Sermons, and have found life to be a joy rather than a burden.
I had been dosed with medicine from the days of my childhood. But since knowing and relying on Christian Science, I have never needed any nor have my two children. The birth of my second child was entirely harmonious, thanks to the help of a practitioner, in whose home I had been living. I can never be grateful enough for Mrs. Eddy and the great work she did in giving us the Christian Science textbook, and in organizing The Mother Church and all its healing activities. I am very grateful for the periodicals and for membership in The Mother Church. Christian Science has benefited my eyes, and I am able now to see quite clearly without the aid of glasses, after wearing them for years.
