Where Is My Place?

Where is my place? Where can I be of service? Where shall I be happiest? These questions throng the thoughts of many who are alert and eager to serve. Some suppose that they have been misplaced through no fault of their own by circumstances far beyond their control; so we find a multitude crying out in protest against present conditions and asking, "Where is my place?"

There is often a deep desire in the human heart to find one's place in Principle, to be where God would have us be, and to do the best work of which we are capable. As students of Christian Science we have learned to turn to the Bible and Mary Baker Eddy's writings for our answer to perplexing questions. In Psalms 91:1 we find this perfect answer: "He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty." Thus we learn that by spiritually dwelling in "the secret place" of Love our place is secure; it can never be changed or destroyed.

Mrs. Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, writes in "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany" (p. 244), "The 'secret place,' whereof David sang, is unquestionably man's spiritual state in God's own image and likeness, even the inner sanctuary of divine Science, in which mortals do not enter without a struggle or sharp experience, and in which they put off the human for the divine." How grateful each one of us can be that in Christian Science he is learning the way to enter "the inner sanctuary"!
