I gratefully acknowledge the many blessings that have come to me through the study and application of Christian Science. I wish to relate my first healing, which resulted in my becoming a student of this Science.

Always frail and delicate, as a child I suffered from numerous illnesses, including pneumonia, diphtheria, measles, and constant stomach disorder. After attaining young womanhood. I submitted to three operations in six months. I was weak physically and underweight, and further examination by the surgeon in attendance showed that I had an internal growth.

I had attended a Christian Science church intermittently for about three years and had always received great inspiration from each service. My father had become a member of a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, and I had seen an uncle healed of asthma through Christian Science treatment. Yet I was unwilling to seek aid in this way for the overcoming of my own difficulties.
