When Christian Science was...

When Christian Science was first presented to me, the most wonderful thing I learned from it was that man is made in the image and likeness of God. I really had not known this. I then asked myself, What do I believe God to be? In this searching I found that God is Love, Life, Truth, Spirit, Mind. Then in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy (p. 286) I read that "in the Saxon and twenty other tongues good is the term for God."

The next statement from the same book that was particularly helpful to me was (p. 15): "We must close the lips and silence the material senses. In the quiet sanctuary of earnest longings, we must deny sin and plead God's allness. "God's allness" was really a revelation to me. I knew it was true, and I knew that my work was to prove it to the greatest extent I could.

I took up Christian Science to cure a sinus condition, and became so interested in finding more and more about the workings of this truth that with very few treatments from a practitioner I was cured. Since then, numerous diseases and inharmonious conditions have been destroyed through the faithful application of the rules of Christian Science.
