Some years ago, when Christian Science was introduced to our family, my father was undergoing a difficult business experience, and my mother was stricken with paralysis of the liver. The times seemed very dark. One Sunday evening, some friends called to see if my parents would attend an evening service at a Christian Science church. These friends knew nothing of Christian Science but wanted to go out of curiosity. That was the introduction of Christian Science into our home, and we attended regularly after that. My parents placed themselves under Science treatment. My father's business affairs immediately began to clear, and my mother's healing was completed within six months and she lived a useful life for over twenty years afterward.

At the time my son was born I was ill with kidney trouble. I complied with the wishes of members of the family who were not interested in Science and had an examination by a physician. The practitioner stayed with me in my home, for the physician had said that he had had only one worse case, and that patient had passed on. However, the difficulty was harmoniously met and overcome, and my son has grown to manhood.

In my youth, I had been a fearful, timid, sensitive child, but as I have learned about God and man in Christian Science and have begun to realize that man is the reflection of God, those childish qualities have dropped off and my real identity has appeared. I have also learned to love mankind.
