I have been waiting for years to be able to express my gratitude for all the good that has come to me through Christian Science. At first the healings were wonderful—and now the daily unfolding of God's law is much more wonderful—so that I see if I wait until I find adequate words to express my joy and gratitude they will never get into print. Through my study of Christian Science each day is filled with gratitude and thanks to God.

When first I became interested in Science I had been under a doctor's care three years for rheumatism. Colds, headaches lasting for many days, constipation, gout, spots, sore throats, and a perpetual cough, all just vanished after my first talk with a Christian Scientist who promised to help me. I knew nothing whatever about Science, but I believed what I was told and obeyed the only requests, which were to read the Bible and the Christian Science textbook. Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, and to take no medicines. Since that time, about twelve years ago, I have not suffered from any ailments, nor have I thought of taking any medicine.

Had anyone told me I should not want to smoke or drink if I studied Christian Science. I should not have believed him, for these bad habits seemed a great pleasure to me. Only those who know the joy of freedom can understand my gratitude for what I have gained in their place. It was my desire for obedience to Mrs. Eddy that instantaneously healed me of smoking when I wanted to join The Mother Church. I had smoked twenty-five or thirty cigarettes a day for about the same number of years, and thought I could not sleep without a brandy and soda. I have never wanted any alcohol since then.
