Church Dedications

Note: Christian Science churches are dedicated only when free from debt.

Elkhart, Indiana (First Church).—Dedication of First Church of Christ, Scientist, Elkhart, whose construction was completed in 1918, took place on Sunday, November 8, 1942. Before the services a brief history of the church was read.

Sunday services were first held in Elkhart in a private home about 1889. Articles of association were drawn up in 1896, and subsequent growth finally resulted in the purchase in 1916 of the site of the present church and Reading Room. The first service was held in the new church on February 17, 1918.
