Testimony of Healing May 29, 1943 Issue

With a deep sense of gratitude and with the hope that these proofs may encourage and sustain others, I send this testimony. I was instantly healed in Christian Science at an early age, when thought by my parents to be passing on. This experience is vividly recalled and has been a great inspiration to me. Healings of so-called children's diseases, ivy poisoning, and eczema followed. I received protection while serving in the United States Navy during the first World War. The healing of astigmatism, which had made it impossible for me to read for more than ten minutes at a time without severe pain, took place when self was forgotten during several hours of inspiring study of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. Glasses were discarded.

Through utilizing the understanding received in the Christian Science Sunday School, I was completely protected in what appeared to be a hopeless situation. A friend came to my room apparently violently insane. It seemed unwise to stir from my chair, so I closed my eyes and endeavored to see only the perfect man. The uproar ceased. My friend slept. I read the Bible and Science and Health until he awakened about two hours later. He was completely rational, and his conversation revealed no recollection that his stated purpose in coming had been murder.

Healings of ptomaine poisoning, of the tobacco habit, of occasional drinking, and of profanity followed. I was healed of believing that church activity would interfere with progress in a profession. The exact opposite was proved and much progress demonstrated. I am grateful for the help lovingly given at the time our two children were born and ever since. Mumps, measles, whooping cough, a severe burn, lingering colds, hemorrhoids, palpitation of the heart, abscessed tooth, neuralgia, and results of accidents have been healed through the utilizing of the truth as taught in Christian Science and through the aid of practitioners. I have been healed of a sense of loss and separation at the passing on of loved ones.
