With a deep desire to share the many blessings which have come to me through Christian Science, I give this testimony.

In the year 1919 I received my first healing by reading the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. I had become suddenly ill with a complication of ailments. I had heard very little of Christian Science, and had rather scoffed at it, but because I had always feared operations I remarked to someone that if the physician who had been called should decide that I needed an operation, rather than consent to it I would even try Christian Science. When he arrived he laid down some rather restricting laws, and asked me to stay in bed until he called again.

The same day a friend called, and said he would ask his wife, who was a student of Christian Science, to bring me Science and Health. She did so, asking me to read "the scientific statement of being" (p. 468). I did as I was requested, and although I did not understand it, it healed me because it was the Word of God. The second day I arose and went about my household duties.
