Our Spiritual Existence

The only real existence is infinite. That which has been thought of as happening before or as coming after, does not belong to infinity, and therefore does not belong to Life. Existence, being wholly spiritual, is without beginning and without end.

"There is but one spiritual existence," writes Mary Baker Eddy on page 72 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," "the Life of which corporeal sense can take no cognizance. The divine Principle of man speaks through immortal sense." Whatever speaks through mortal sense, in seeking to envisage, outline, or contact what has passed beyond human ken, is within the realm of belief. It belongs to the dream of mortal existence, and cannot add to our knowledge of God or of man, because it is outside the jurisdiction of Mind.

Spiritual sense alone takes cognizance of Life. We know God only as we understand His spiritual creation, its nature and essence. "If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also," said Jesus to the Jews.
