Christian Science came to our family when I was a little girl, and though it was many years before I accepted it for myself and began to use it, I have been very grateful for the understanding that came to my mother at that time.

Before it was presented to her, about forty years ago, we were completely under the dictation of material theories of hygiene and of medicine. One member of our family had been given but a few months to live; of my brother it was said that he would never grow up, and a specialist said that I should always be an invalid. My mother, too, was far from being in good health, and was quite overwhelmed with conditions.

Her first grasp of the subject caused her to see that God's law must be the only law—an unchanging law of good—and this broke the great fear that surrounded us and completely nullified all that had been prophesied. As a result, we children and our mother came into excellent health so quickly that it was frequently remarked upon by our friends.
