In the Bible we read that "God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them." In the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, there is this sentence (p. 475): "Man is spiritual and perfect; and because he is spiritual and perfect, he must be so understood in Christian Science." The truth of these statements was demonstrated to me several years ago.

At this time my foot became infected and later blood poisoning set in. Fear was expressed by those who knew me, especially my fellow workers. They felt there was danger of my losing my foot unless I visited a doctor immediately. Although I knew of Christian Science, I had not accepted its teachings up to this time. Now I turned to it entirely, and with the help of a practitioner my foot was completely healed in about eight days. Needless to say. I was very grateful for this healing, and I realized that Christian Science is truly a religion of God.

However, I still had further lessons to learn, and I realize more and more each day the truth of our beloved Leader's statement in Science and Health (p. 559): "Mortals, obey the heavenly evangel. Take divine Science. Read this book from beginning to end. Study it, ponder it. It will be indeed sweet at its first taste, when it heals you; but murmur not over Truth, if you find its digestion bitter."
