Out of a deeply humble recognition...
Out of a deeply humble recognition of countless blessings gained from the study and application of Christian Science is born the desire to submit this testimony. Christian Science brought healing to me in one of the great transitional periods in a young man's life, the step from high school to college and university. This occurred approximately seventeen years ago.
In my last year in high school I had received an injury in football which coincided with an extremely serious bone ailment in my upper thigh and hip. The condition became so acute early the following summer that I underwent an operation and was consigned to bed for substantially a year. After months of extensive surgical attention, I became so weak that it was impossible to hold a glass of water or feed myself. At a point when the ultimate in human skill was thwarted, the omnipotence of Mind, God, was invoked. The name of a consecrated Christian Science practitioner was given to my mother by a kind friend, and I promptly received aid. Through the continued support of Christian Science I was shortly enabled to begin arduous preparation for college entrance examinations. I also played tennis and swam within six weeks of the first treatment. The examinations were successfully passed. Fall found me enrolled in a large university, seven hundred miles from home. It was my first experience away.
Medical laws claimed a recurring nature for the bone ailment. Upon some three or four occasions there was a degree of return, when it was necessary to prove anew the divinely superior surgery of Christian Science. In the last of these instances a brief return to my home was made. Through the work of the same loving practitioner who had previously shown her fidelity to Principle in aiding me, I was quickly healed.
