"Father-Mother God, all-harmonious"

Christian Science, the final revelation of Truth—of the true nature of God as Father-Mother—has come to this age to deliver humanity from the bondage of sin, disease, and death. For centuries men have called God Father, but until the advent of Christian Science the appellation Mother was seldom, if ever, used for God. In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, writes (p. 332), "Father-Mother is the name for Deity, which indicates His tender relationship to His spiritual creation."

The understanding and realization of this tender relationship comforts and heals. It brings the assurance that God's plan for man is now, as it was in the beginning, wholly good; that neither the nature, purpose, nor the idea of God has changed one iota. No shadow of doubt could remain to the sincere student of Christian Science regarding the truth of the allness of divine Love.

Today, perhaps more than ever before in the history of the world, there is a yearning for peace and good will, for the tenderness and compassion of mother-love. This yearning can be satisfied only by spiritual means, only as more of the ineffably tender love of God is expressed in the daily life and conduct of each one of us. Thus the Father-Mother Love is found to nourish, comfort, sustain, and supply all good. Not a single minute detail of the needs of the children escapes the ever-watchful eye of our Father-Mother God. The response is instant, as Isaiah expresses it: "Before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear." Before even a word can be formed, the answer comes to the heart that is aglow with divine Love.
