God's Purpose Is Good
How completely is anxiety stilled, doubt or uncertainty removed, when one trusts and relies upon the power of God, the one Mind! Isaiah voiced the promise of God to restore Israel and to break the seeming power of the Assyrians in these words: "The Lord of hosts hath sworn, saying, Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed, so shall it stand.... This is the purpose that is purposed upon the whole earth: and this is the hand that is stretched out upon all the nations. For the Lord of hosts hath purposed, and who shall disannul it? and his hand is stretched out, and who shall turn it back?"
The understanding of the true nature of God as Mind, infinitely good, and as Love, infinitely loving, gained from the teaching of Christian Science, inspires confidence in the divine government. Since God decrees only that which is right and His purpose is always loving, good alone is assured and it may be eagerly expected and realized. Uninspired human planning is set aside and the unfolding of the divine will is a awaited. Speculating upon a possible outcome as to one's prospects or in regard to any situation is replaced by knowing that God has already wisely and perfectly determined all that really is and can be. He is forever carrying out His good plan for all that He has made.
Acknowledging the omnipotence, omnipresence, and omniscience of God in accord with Christian Science silences the claim of any other power, presence, or intelligence. The purpose of divine Mind is found to be the only real purpose and stands supreme. No supposition of evil can hinder or prevent its fulfillment. Nothing can interfere with God's good will. His purpose remains triumphant. We may rest secure in this grand fact and rejoice that the hand of Love's infinite power will never be removed.
