Our "divine commission"

At the present time much is being heard of military and naval affairs, and of the commissioning of officers in various branches of the service.

To the writer came an inspiring unfoldment and spiritually illumined view of this matter of commission as she pondered the words on page 54 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," where, in speaking of Christ Jesus, Mary Baker Eddy says, "In witness of his divine commission, he presented the proof that Life, Truth, and Love heal the sick and the sinning, and triumph over death through Mind, not matter." How great was the Master's witnessing of "his divine commission," the God-given power to carry out the work of overcoming evil with good!

Through the study of Christian Science, many have proved and are daily proving that the correct understanding of God endows them, as it did the master Christian, with spiritual power to prove that Truth heals the sick and the sinning. Recognizing our glorious privilege, we should use every opportunity to witness to this "divine commission" and carry out our divine duties. In so doing, we are obedient to the loving command of Christ Jesus when he said, not for one but for all, not for a particular time but for all time, "Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give."
