"If children, then heirs"

In the eighth chapter of Romans there is stated the foundational fact that "we are the children of God: and if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ." What greater assurance could we have of our oneness with God? Indeed, what vistas are opened to us of the possibility of the fruition of good in individual experience through this comforting knowledge!

Countless references from Genesis to Revelation could be cited in substantiation of the verity that man is the likeness of God, the son of God and heir of the kingdom. Nevertheless, this kinship with God was not set forth as a demonstrable scientific truth capable of use by each individual until Christian Science was discovered by Mary Baker Eddy and given to the world in its present practical form through her textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," and her other writings.

As an heir-at-law must prove he is the rightful inheritor of a fortune, so the student of Christian Science must prove his relationship with the Father-Mother God and realize and accept the good which has been bestowed on him by his wise and loving Parent. Since God is Mind, man is the expression of intelligence. Because God is Love, man is loving and lovable. Because God is All-in-all, man has, as his divine right, everything that is enduring and true. Mrs. Eddy writes (Science and Health, pp. 205, 206): "When we fully understand our relation to the Divine, we can have no other Mind but His,—no other Love, wisdom, or Truth, no other sense of Life, and no consciousness of the existence of matter or error."
