I am profoundly grateful for...

I am profoundly grateful for the many blessings and healings that have come to me and mine through Christian Science.

One of the first instantaneous healings that I experienced was that of an embedded wisdom tooth which was coming through at an angle and growing into my cheek. The gum was very painful and quite inflamed, so much so that I had been on a liquid diet for three days. Upon going to the dentist, I was told that he could not touch the tooth, but he said there was not room enough in my mouth for it to come through as it should, and for that reason it was growing into my cheek. When I heard this, my fear increased, and I was most miserable. At this point a Christian Science practitioner was called, and she at once audibly handled the whole apparent condition as a lie, declaring that in infinite Mind there is infinite space. I fell asleep repeating this statement, and upon waking sometime within the hour, found myself completely free. All pain, soreness, and inflammation had disappeared, and that evening I enjoyed the first solid food that I had eaten in three days. Soon afterwards the tooth came through in line with the rest of my teeth and without any more pain or discomfort whatsoever.

Another healing for which I shall always be most grateful is that of a painful condition of the eyes. For many months I was forced to look down because I could not look up without excruciating pain. Any brightness caused either by sunshine or by artificial lighting, seemed unbearable. There was a belief of heaviness over the eyes during this experience, accompanied by constant pain, and since closing them brought the only relief I knew, much time was spent in sleeping. Learning to "look up" was a slow and painful process, but it was accomplished by degrees until finally I found that I could look right into even very bright light without flinching. The fear of pain occasioned by looking up was destroyed in consciousness as I held steadfastly to these verses from Psalms: "I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth." While the healing was slow, and discouragement at times tried to creep in, I relied radically on Christian Science and the help of consecrated practitioners, and Truth was finally the victor. Knees given to collapsing and a stiff hand were healed by holding to this verse: "Strengthen ye the weak hands, and confirm the feeble knees." Numbness that covered part of my body was entirely overcome when the fear entertained about these conditions was annihilated.
