Testimony of Healing May 2, 1942 Issue

It is with profound gratitude and a sincere desire to help those who have, perhaps, been struggling to work out a problem which seems both stubborn and slow in yielding, that I give this testimony.

I have been healed of a continuous issue of blood and hemorrhages, which covered a period of fourteen years, hemorrhages occurring as often as five or eight times in one month. Two eminent physicians stated that blood transfusions were absolutely necessary in order for me to live, but to this I would not consent.

In my search for Truth and an understanding of the Bible, I used the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, as a key. I was enabled to understand clearly the passage in the fourteenth chapter of Matthew about Jesus feeding the multitude with "five loaves, and two fishes." I saw clearly that if blood were necessary to the body, the blood corpuscles could be multiplied just as quickly as were the loaves and fishes, and without blood transfusions. This thought, held to, enabled me to demonstrate sufficient strength to continue my work at the office during this entire period. During this time I had the help of many practitioners; but the condition did not improve. Many times it became so exaggerated that to mortal sense it seemed as if I could not live. When my problem seemed most difficult and I was very much discouraged. I recalled the fact that I had been healed instantaneously of an attack of bronchitis during a Christian Science lecture. I had been ill for so long I felt it did not matter much about my passing on but I wanted so much to hear just one more Christian Science lecture. I learned that a lecture was to be given in Elizabeth, New Jersey, the only one on this particular evening near New York. As I lived on Long Island, New York, so long a trip did not seem wise. However, I silenced all the suggestions of mortal mind as to the risk incurred, and went, relying entirely on Truth to sustain me.
