"The king's daughter"

[Written Especially for Young People]

In our real being we must recognize ourselves as sons and daughters of the King. Who is this King? The Psalmist says: "Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in. Who is this King of glory? The Lord of hosts, he is the King of glory." This King is God, and we discover our royal lineage through acknowledging ourselves as His sons and daughters. As we see more clearly that we are God's children, we become aware of the fact that our only true heritage comes from Deity, whose riches are infinite, immeasurable, and unending, and that this unlimited bounty is bestowed upon us.

Mary Baker Eddy, the beloved Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, states in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 515), "Man is the family name for all ideas,—the sons and daughters of God." To companion continually with right ideas, thoughts from God, is to live that life which embraces all the qualities embodied in all-inclusive good. This draws to us those who need what we ourselves express of infinite Mind's full effulgence. The greater our love, the brighter our spiritual light, the more able are we to spread and impart the radiance of divine Love and its unfolding brilliance. Time and space do not limit Love. From ocean to ocean, and from continent to continent, those true Christians who are motivated by the same affections, purposes, and desires are held together in love; divine Love maintains their unity. The unbroken chain of Christ's Christianity can never be severed by discord, war, or any other human separating process, however formidable it may seem to be. The Master said, "And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me." This ever-available drawing power of Love, as taught by Christ Jesus, is also the basis of Christian Science teaching, and it unites in thought and action those whose lifework and interests are allied and aligned, dissolving unprofitable, uncongenial relationships and bonds.

As we reflect individually the holy qualities of love, joy, peace, compassion, our brother man must inevitably be drawn to us through the irresistible forces of Spirit. Every manifestation of good is within the radius of God-reflected thought. As true joy and love and other spiritual qualities are established within, they are reflected outwardly in effortless freedom and spontaneous radiance. Mrs. Eddy expresses her appreciation of the obedient, faithful workers in the Cause, on page 118 of "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany," as follows: "My soul thanks the loyal, royal natures of the beloved members of my church who cheerfully obey God and steadily go on promoting the true Principle of Christian Science."
