The Lectures

Introductions to Lectures

Auburn and Lewiston, Maine (First Church).

Lecturer: Judge Samuel W. Greene; introduced by Miss Margaret B. Jordan, who said:—

It is because those of us who have been studying Christian Science feel a great sense of gratitude for its guidance in our daily lives that we have invited you to share this lecture with us this evening. We know, for we are daily proving, that anyone who honestly desires to practice the teachings of Christian Science can do so to whatever extent his desire leads him. A grain of truth spiritually understood removes mountains of erroneous thinking and frees from the ills of the flesh. Jesus said, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." Mary Baker Eddy says in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 242): "There is but one way to heaven, harmony, and Christ in divine Science shows us this way. It is to know no other reality—to have no other consciousness of life—than good, God and His reflection, and to rise superior to the so-called pain and pleasure of the senses."
