Christian Science has been my...
Christian Science has been my only physician for thirty-eight years. I wish publicly to express gratitude for two outstanding healings of recent years.
While living in San Antonio, Texas, in 1937, I was bitten on one of my legs by an insect. Momentary pain soon ceased, and little attention was given the incident until some days later, when a carbuncular condition appeared, making it difficult for me to walk. At this time came instructions to transfer to a distant city in about two weeks. Soon afterward, the condition of the leg was such that I could barely hobble across a room at home. A Christian Science practitioner was giving help, and no cancellation of the transfer trip was asked for. A few days prior to departure, healing was clearly realized; I was quickly up and about, making necessary arrangements for the trip, which was to be by automobile, and we departed on time, and arrived on time, I driving the car the entire distance of over two thousand miles. The visible healing was complete upon arrival.
In October, 1938, another transfer entailed another long journey by automobile. Soon afterwards, I was awakened late at night by internal pain, of a nature not experienced previously. Unable to go to sleep again, I arose and tried to work for myself as taught in Christian Science. However, the condition soon grew so severe that I felt the need of help. There was no telephone available, and city busses did not start running until near daylight. When they did, my wife went into town and reached a practitioner, saying, on her return, that help was being given. The next thing I was conscious of was awakening near noon from the most refreshing slumber that I had experienced since childhood, with every trace of pain gone. I immediately arose and went to work. There has been no recurrence of the error, which I believe would have been diagnosed by a medical physican as acute indigestion.
