From Letters, Substantially as Published

I do not think I have ever read...

West Middlesex Gazette

[William K. Primrose, Assistant to the District Manager of Committees on Publication for Great Britain and Ireland, in the West Middlesex Gazette, London]

I do not think I have ever read such a complete misdescription of any public figure as that given in the second paragraph of your correspondent's letter under the title "Down with all Croakers" in a recent issue. By it your correspondent shows he has little, if any, knowledge of Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, and little, if any, comprehension of her life work and what it means to the human race.

Mrs. Eddy investigated and exposed to the world the methods of evil, and has blazed, for those who will follow her, the way out of the thralldom of the five physical senses into what St. Paul calls the "liberty of the glory of the children of God" (Romans 8:21, American Revised Version). It is the same way as that originally pointed out by our Master, Christ Jesus. Through the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mrs. Eddy has unlocked the spiritual meaning of the Bible, and has shown that the teachings of Christ Jesus are demonstrable when spiritually understood.
