"Under his wings shalt thou trust"

IN the Bible, in some instances, the word "wings" conveys the sense of protection, as in the ninety-first Psalm, "He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust." In other cases, it takes on the meaning of support, as in God's message to the people through Moses, "Ye have seen ... how I bare you on eagles' wings, and brought you unto myself."

Mary Baker Eddy, our beloved Leader, has given us the name of Father-Mother for God, and this name connotes protection and support.

How many of us in days of tumult and trial feel the need to realize that in God are our support and protection! Perhaps in the quiet of peacetime we relied on persons or human possessions or position for our support, and deemed our own strength and wisdom adequate to protect us. What happened? For many these seeming sources of supply and protection proved powerless to afford the help needed in order to stand firm and face the test each day brings, for the foundation of these things is material.
