I am so grateful for all that Christian Science has done and is doing for me that I should like to give an account of a beautiful healing of deep grief. Through the sudden passing on of a loved child, I found myself a grief–stricken invalid in a state of collapse. In my extremity I called out to God, and He heard me. The opportunity came for me to ask an old friend of ours, whom we had not seen for some time, not only for his advice, but why he was so happy. He, too, had been as deeply distressed as I, over a similar grief, but now he seemed like a different man.

He asked me if I read the Bible. I explained that I did not understand it. He very kindly offered to lend me Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, which, he said, would help me to understand it, and he told me that I would soon be quite well. He also lent me a copy of the Christian Science Sentinel, and I shall never forget my first healing. Before I had finished reading the first page of Science and Health I fell into a peaceful sleep, the first for many months. On waking, I was a changed woman.
