Among the Churches

Current Notes

Fairmont Daily Sentinel

Fairmont, Minnesota (First Church). —Dedication services were held in the morning and afternoon on Sunday, August 3, 1941, in the new edifice of First Church of Christ, Scientist, Fairmont, the cornerstone of which was laid on November 8, 1938. The services, which were identical, marked the church's complete freedom from debt. A history of the church was read by the church president. This follows in part:

"October 3, 1891, marked a milestone in the growth of the group of Christian Science students here. On this day, after months of prayer, watching, and waiting, they completed the organization of First Church of Christ, Scientist, of Fairmont.

"The next step was to provide a church home. A lot at the corner of Elm Street and Blue Earth Avenue was purchased. Work of construction began on May 19, 1898, and just two years later the church was dedicated.
