Confidence

If I can walk the lonely road
And feel no fear;
If discord leaves a heart from all
Resentment clear;
If humbleness precedes success,
And pride can rear
No Gorgon head of selfishness,
Then Love is near.

If subtle sin and pain are met
Courageously;
If lack dissolves before the fact
That good is free;
If bigotry, smug ignorance,
And darkness flee
As Science lifts the lamp of Truth,
God walks with me.
