As a living witness to the truth...
As a living witness to the truth of Christian Science, I am happy to be able to give my testimony. I know that it will help someone to realize, as I have, the allness of God and the everywhereness of Spirit. I should like, by this expression of gratitude, to share my joy for a beautiful demonstration of the power of Truth, which restored my sight. For this glorious blessing no words can fully express my gratitude, but as a progressive student of Christian Science I can try to live that gratitude in my daily life by reflecting God's qualities in patience, gentleness, love, forgiveness, humility, and sincerity.
From the time I was a child I had worn a very disagreeable dark glass for my left eye, and for thirty years resorted to material methods of healing. Then I took up the study of Christian Science, and while reading Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy I was healed, within five weeks, of an aching condition of the eye, from which I had suffered for many years in a very distressing form. This first healing strengthened my faith in God's all-power, and I went on with my study, full of faith in God.
Eighteen months after this I attended a Christian Science lecture, during which I was able to grasp more firmly the allness of God and the nothingness of error. I realized too that, as the lecturer said, God is right here with us now; that there is no other presence. With this realization of God's allness came an unusual brightness. On my way home my glasses fell off onto the ground and I heard that "still small voice" of Truth say clearly to me, "You can see!" I looked up and said, "Yes, I can see—thanks be to God." Everything was so clear, and I could see the numbers on the busses and see the people passing by. I was so full of joy and gratitude that all night long I was awake, praising God for His wonderful goodness in having lifted me up out of the darkness into this glorious light of Truth.
