Few human emotions are comparable to those of a traveler returning home from a foreign country. The joy and the peace that come from being once more among loved ones and the things that one understands, and, above all, the gratitude that one feels for having passed safely through difficult times and circumstances, are very great. A famous poet has described as unnatural the man

"Whose heart hath ne'er within him burn'd,
As home his footsteps he hath turn'd,
From wandering on a foreign strand!"
