In an issue of your paper a writer states: "Emphatically I say that there is not such a thing as a Christian civilization, any more than there is such a thing as a Christian Science."

As all Christians believe God to be omniscient, or possessing all knowledge, obviously true Science, or absolute Science, must consist of what God knows, and must of necessity be Christian. Christ Jesus demonstrated his knowledge of this Science of omniscient Mind in many ways by what are called miracles, showing clearly his understanding of spiritual law by healing sickness and sin. Moreover, he promised all who would "abide" in his word, that is, follow implicitly his instructions, that they also should "know" this truth or Science of God.

The religious teaching known today as Christian Science is defined by its Discoverer, Mary Baker Eddy, thus (Rudimental Divine Science, p. 1): "How would you define Christian Science? As the law of God, the law of good, interpreting and demonstrating the divine Principle and rule of universal harmony." When men are humble enough to return to an earnest study of the teachings of Christ Jesus, and really endeavor to put into practice the spiritual law of God, they will not declare that there is no such thing as a Christian civilization, because they will have found the fons et origo of all true civilization, namely, Christian Science.
