Camp Welfare Fund
Inasmuch as the men who are in training at the military and naval camps in the United States have a great need for spiritual guidance, comfort, protection, and support, steps were taken some months ago to help meet this need through Christian Science Camp Welfare Workers.
Although the United States Government makes provision for maintaining chaplains in the Army and Navy, it does not provide the funds or facilities needed for carrying on such activites as those in which our Camp Welfare Workers are engaged. The Christian Science Camp Welfare Fund has not yet received sufficient contributions to warrant the expenditure of more than a comparatively meager amount for this important work, therefore it has been necessary to proceed rather slowly thus far. It is hoped, however, that the fund will be generously supported by Christian Scientists in order that the work may be carried on without interruption as the opportunities for service through our Christian Science Camp Welfare Activities increase. When these activities are found by The Christian Science Board of Directors to be no longer needed, any balance then remaining in this fund will be transferred to the Relief Fund of The Mother Church. In the present emergency the need for the Camp Welfare Fund is urgent.
Contributions may be made through the branches of The Mother Church, or sent direct to Edward L. Ripley, Treasurer, 107 Falmouth Street, Boston, Massachusetts.
