When I Awake

When I awake from earth's vain dream,
What shall I know?
How worthless were the pains and joys
Of things below.

When I awake from earth's sad dream,
What shall I see?
The light and loveliness of heaven
Revealed to me.

When I awake from matter's dream,
What shall I find?
A fuller life—abundant, free—
Flows from pure Mind.

And now I know that dream to be
A myth—untrue;
Nought but a vision of the night
To me and you.

So I awake—no more to dream
The hours away.
The light has shone, dispelled the mist,
Now dawns Truth's day.
