We Thank Thee, Lord

BERTHA IRENE BYRD

With chastened thought which seeks the truth to prove,
With gratitude for harvests reaped through love,
With praise to Thee in whom we live and move,
We thank Thee, Lord.

For strength renewed through knowing God as Life,
For peace which comes and puts to silence strife,
For all the good with which our days are rife,
We thank Thee, Lord.

For guidance when the way seems long and steep,
For angel hosts to bear us up, and keep
Us in our ways, the while we wake or sleep,
We thank Thee, Lord.

For power to stand when fear and doubt resound,
For truth's clear light to pierce the darkness round,
For grace and mercy, which in Thee abound,
We thank Thee, Lord.

For Christ, which ever leads the way before,
For wings of Love, forever brooding o'er,
For countless blessings, which increase the more,
We thank Thee, Lord.
