Among the Churches

Current Notes

Pocatello, Idaho (First Church). On January 5, 1941, the first Christian Science church to be established in the state of Idaho, First Church of Christ, Scientist, Pocatello, observed an outstanding event in its history. At morning and evening services, members dedicated the new church building at the corner of South Hayes and Bonneville Streets.

According to regulations of the Christian Science denomination, all indebtedness on church property must be canceled before dedication, a regulation which has been fulfilled by the local church.

The church here was organized on December 21, 1896, and incorporated on January 8, 1897, as a branch of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, at which time a charter was granted by the state of Idaho.
