Ample Supply Always Available

MUCH is heard at present of shortage of basic raw materials, and important businesses find difficulty at times in obtaining enough raw materials for manufacturing purposes. As this shortage appears to become acute, the search for new sources of supply becomes more intensive.

Christ Jesus admonished, "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." Christian Science teaches men how to seek "first the kingdom of God" and, consequently, to realize and prove that there is no shortage of anything truly needful. Seeking the kingdom of God, affirming the real man's perfect state of harmony, his inheritance of wisdom, truth, intelligence, activity, kindness, and purity, joyfully anticipating good, one is rightly prepared for the day's work and all the opportunities it offers to employ those God-derived qualities; and one finds proportionally that the human needs of the day are met.

However freely one may draw upon divine Mind, the universal source of kindness, understanding, love, and intelligence, there is always an abundant supply for everyone. In daily experience, one often finds that the more one expresses of love and kindness, the more others seek to express these qualities. In this connection the writer, who at that time knew nothing about Christian Science, had occasion to reprimand a clerk who had made several blunders. After listening silently to a somewhat sharp rebuke, the clerk asked gently, "Please show me how to do it, then, sir." In a moment all anger vanished as the clerk's honest desire for understanding immediately awoke in the writer a strong desire to reciprocate. Thus was established a new bond of sympathy, and after the blunders had been explained in a way that the clerk could easily understand, there came a more satisfactory relationship all round. Office work went more smoothly than ever before, and soon the clerk gained promotion to a more responsible position.
