The Comforter

Uplifted hope has heard the strain—
A tender song that does not cease;
Its melody upon the heart
Has laid a healing peace.
It leads into the kingdom
Where sorrow, pain, and tears
May enter not, for Love is there
To banish earth-born fears.

It is the voice of Truth that brings
This joy the hungry heart to fill,
And strength to conquer self is given,
False human pride to still—
The voice of Truth, the Comforter,
Like healing waters flowing,
Pure streams upon a desert land,
The gift of life bestowing.
