Down Recorder,

In your column "Town Topics," appearing in the Down Recorder recently, mention is made of Christian Science, and it is clear from what is said that the writer is misinformed concerning it. There is no mystery about Christian Science; the teaching is so simple that a child can demonstrate what he learns of it.

The world has long been waiting for a reinstatement of the primitive Christian religion, as taught by Christ Jesus, which preaches a practical gospel of spiritual and scientific healing. Any careful student of the Scriptures will have noticed the many references given in both the Old and the New Testament to the subject of healing, and it is reasonable to suppose that the application of spiritual law which accomplished wonderful results in ancient days is available to us in the present era.

Christian Science claims that the works of Christ Jesus were not miraculous, but divinely natural, and were accomplished through an understanding of the laws of God and their application to humanity. Mary Baker Eddy made great discovery, and has embodied this discovery in her textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." This book is read and studied in conjunction with the Bible, for this teaching has its basis in the Bible.
