Christian Science has truly improved my whole life, and...
Christian Science has truly improved my whole life, and I wish to express my gratitude, hoping that others may be led to prove its great worth.
Christian Science came into my experience at various times in my childhood, but it was not until I was in my twenties that I turned to it. When I was a child, our nextdoor neighbor was a Christian Scientist, and I now realize that I was permanently healed of chronic hysteria and weeping by the truth voiced by that neighbor. My father had relatives who were Christian Scientists, but I resisted any tendency toward Christian Science. I was a member of a Protestant church, and as I roamed, both physically and mentally, I tried earnestly to find peace and happiness within that organization. After marrying, however, I settled down to enjoy books and a garden, did not attend church, and believed there was nothing beyond the grave.
I now can see that because there were present in my thought such qualities as honesty, genuineness, meekness, moral courage, and a certain freedom from custom, my consciousness was really near the truth. Consequently, I began to hear more of Christian Science. My husband had witnessed a quick healing of tuberculosis in its last stages through this Science. I still resisted, however, not wishing to involve myself in organization, as I expressed it.
