That God is a very present help in time of trouble I can...

That God is a very present help in time of trouble I can truly affirm. In the Bible we read Paul's words, "Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you." God, whom I "ignorantly" worshiped, was declared unto me by Christian Science over twelve years ago. I did not then readily grasp the deep truths this wonderful religion revealed, but the seed had been sown, and about a year later I began to study sincerely our two textbooks, the Bible and "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and to apply the little understanding I gained each day.

In our home we have had many proofs of the omnipresence and omnipotence of God, divine Mind. With the help of a practitioner, one child was healed of smallpox in a week's time. Another child was healed of a dislocated kneecap through his own work, and was able to take part in a strenuous sports exhibition on the third day thereafter.

My husband had a beautiful healing of a large and painful boil on his right wrist. This healing took place in ten days from the time the boil first appeared and did not hinder him in writing or driving, his work requiring both. He relied on God alone. The healing that followed was very impressive, no material aids being used.

Words seem inadequate to express my gratitude for Christian Science and what it meant to me both before and during the birth of our last baby. Through the faithful work of consecrated practitioner I was freed from undue thought of self, thereby gaining much spiritual understanding. The physician was called, but the baby arrived fully thirty minutes ahead of him. My husband and I were alone at the time, but there was no fear or excitement. Everything was in readiness, for I was enabled to be up and active until the last few minutes. The physician expressed his appreciation of the harmony manifested.

One winter afternoon I was suffering from what seemed to be an attack of influenza, and was forced to leave my work and go home to bed. Help was asked for and received, with the result that the next day I was back at work again. That evening I gave my first testimony in a Christian Science church. On another occasion I was healed of a sense of being overcome by heat through the understanding of Mrs. Eddy's definition of "fan," as given in the Glossary of Science and Health (p. 586). The false appetite for smoking has been overcome, although no special work was done on it.

Through steadfast reliance on God, our every need has been supplied, not according to human will, but in the right way, at the right time, and in the place that was best for all concerned.

For membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church I am humbly grateful. To Christ Jesus, and to our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, to whom was revealed these practical truths that she might give them to a piritually famished world, I owe endless homage. My earnest desire is to heed Paul's admonition to Timothy, "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."
